Senate OKs more port, border security funds

The U.S. Senate on Tuesday approved nearly $1 billion in additional funds to help secure America’s borders and ports and debated revamping the troubled Federal Emergency Management Agency to improve its response to natural disasters or another domestic attack. In an attempt to strengthen U.S. borders against smuggling of weapons of mass destruction and other illegal activities, the Senate approved an additional $648 million for port security. Full Story
