A three-year-old Indonesian girl who died this week was infected with bird flu, according to local test results which are usually reliable, a health ministry official has said. If the results are confirmed by the World Health Organisation (WHO), the girl would be the 41st bird flu death in Indonesia, which is close to registering the world’s highest number of deaths from the H5N1 virus.
