Sunni politicians on Monday called on the U.N. Security Council to send peacekeepers to Iraq saying U.S.-led “occupation forces” cannot protect Iraqis. A day earlier Shiite gunmen entered a Baghdad neighborhood and started killing members of the minority sect. Police said 41 people were killed in the dramatic escalation of sectarian violence. Ayad al-Samaraie, a member of the Iraqi Accordance Front, the largest Sunni bloc in parliament, blamed the killings on militiamen loyal to radical Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr. Full Story
