Four soldiers were killed and three others wounded in a clash with communist rebels in the northern Philippines, the military has said. Army troops were on patrol near the town of Besao in northern Mountain province when they ran into some 50 armed members of the New People’s Army (NPA) on Friday, triggering a gunbattle, the military said.
