The past six months has seen “a vast drop” in the volume of new viruses and worms, but researchers warn that the fall has been offset by a sharp hike in malicious malware used by cyber-criminals to steal information and money. The Sophos Security Threat Management Report Update published today reveals that new Trojans now outweigh viruses and worms by a factor of four to one, compared to two to one in the first half of 2005.
