The United States transferred a convicted U.S. Marine through Ireland without telling the Irish government, Ireland’s foreign affairs minister said on Tuesday, but denied the country had been used to move terrorist suspects. Ireland was named in a Council of Europe report earlier this month as one of more than 20 countries, mostly in Europe, that colluded in a “global spider’s web” of secret CIA jails and flight transfers of terrorist suspects, an accusation Ireland denies.
