A man was formally charged with the attempted murder of a suspected paramilitary group leader in what police said was a settling of scores among Northern Ireland’s Protestant factions. Darren Stewart Moore, 36, appearing in court in Belfast, denied the charge of attempting to murder Mark Haddock, who was shot and critically wounded in the mainly Protestant town of Newtownabbey last week.
