A Palestinian rocket which hit a chicken coop in southern Israel had a much longer-range than the usual makeshift devices fired from the nearby Gaza Strip. Dozens of chickens were killed in the attack on the village of Netiv Haasara but there were no other reports of casualties, an Israeli army spokesman said Tuesday. Islamic Jihad, the most extreme of the Palestinian armed factions, said it had carried out the attack, claiming the missile fired was a Katyusha which have a range several times greater than the makeshift Palestinian rockets frequently aimed at Israel just over the border from Gaza.
