Militants threaten Shell’s facilities
A militant group, Iduwini Volunteer Force (IVF), in Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa State has threatened to shut down facilities of the Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) in all communities in Iduwuni Kingdom except the company explains within 14 days where and how it spent the sum of N800 million it allegedly claimed was spent on provision of projects in the area. The group in a letter to the Managing Director of the company, Chief Basil Omiyi, entitled: “14-day quit notice to Shell Petroleum Development Company to quit all her installations in Iduwini Kingdom or face unpleasant youths restiveness,” signed by its self-styled Commander, Johnson Biboye, said they were surprised that the company was making false claims.
