A top Shiite lawmaker said Thursday that names for all key political posts in the new Iraqi government must be decided before parliament can convene next week. The next session was called for Monday, but Shiite leaders have questioned the purpose of holding a meeting without first designating the top posts, including the prime minister. “If we don’t agree on the key posts, then why should we go to parliament?” Khudayer al-Khuzai asked Thursday.
