World Cup host Germany called on the Iranian leadership Tuesday to cooperate on security during the month-long competition at which Iran is one of the 32 participating nations. A security concept for the Iranian national squad was one of the issues raised at the meeting between Iranian Interior Minister Mostafa Pourmohammadi and German Deputy Interior Minister August Hanning, reports from Tehran said. Iranian television said a goal of the meeting was to hinder possible disturbances by the Iranian opposition group People’s Mujahedin, which is classed as a terrorist organization by the European Union.
