Two years and one month after the Madrid train bombings the judge overseeing the inquiry is due to charge around 40 mainly Moroccan suspects with involvement in Spain’s worst extremist attack. Legal sources say judge Juan del Olmo will charge three men — Jamal Zougam and Abdelmajid Bouchar from Morocco and Basel Ghayoun from Syria — with actually carrying out the bombings which killed 191 people on four packed commuter trains on the morning of March 11, 2004.
