Deadline Set for Irish Power Sharing Deal
The British and Irish prime ministers said Thursday that Northern Ireland’s legislature will reconvene May 15 in a final push to revive power-sharing between Protestants and Catholics. British Prime Minister Tony Blair and his Irish counterpart, Bertie Ahern, said the revived legislature would have until Nov. 24 to elect an administration that would be led by the Democratic Unionists, the major British Protestant party, and Sinn Fein, the major Irish Catholic party.
