A close advisor to Brazil’s President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has been appointed as new finance minister. Guido Mantega replaces Antonio Palocci, who resigned amid a corruption scandal. Mr Palocci had been accused of visiting a mansion in Brasilia where government bribes were divided and prostitutes met – a claim he has denied. Full Story
