President Vladimir Putin has issued an instruction calling on big business to pay part of the national bill for fighting terrorism, Kommersant reported Thursday. After saying during the day Thursday that it could not immediately confirm the report, the Kremlin press service said late that evening that there had been no such instruction. According to an unidentified security official cited by the newspaper, the classified order signed Feb. 28 calls for “voluntary sponsorship by Russia’s biggest business structures of anti-terrorism activities within the framework of the National Anti-Terrorist Committee, under which they would be ‘voluntarily obliged’ to create the respective funds.” Full Story
