The Russian Foreign Ministry has warned Tbilisi against “an escalation of provocative actions” against peacekeepers in the zone of the South Ossetian-Georgian conflict. On Tuesday, Georgia demonstratively increased its military presence in the village of Tkviavi, and an armed clash was prevented only by the restraint shown by the peacekeeping troops, Foreign Ministry spokesman Mikhail Kamynin said on Wednesday. “This makes it obvious that the tone on Tbilisi’s political stage is set by those who seek to provoke bloodshed and blame it on Russian peacekeepers,” Kamynin said.
