Sri Lanka’s political parties have asked the government to begin peace talks with Tamil Tiger rebels, a government spokesman said. Members of 15 parties met to support talks with the rebels amid concerns of a return to violent conflict. The political parties included the ruling coalition and the main opposition parties.
