The Iranian government warned the West that sanctions over its controversial nuclear programme could provoke a world oil crisis, as France’s top diplomat pressed Russia to support tougher measures against Iran. “In case of sanctions, other countries will suffer as well as Iran,” Oil Minister Davoud Danesh-Jafari said, according to the official news agency IRNA. “One of the consequences will be the unleashing of a crisis in the oil sector and particularly a price hike.” However, the country’s top nuclear official, Ali Larijani, told the BBC that “we have not closed the path to compromise.” Full Story
