Thailand has extended emergency rule in the south of the country by another three months. Justice Minister Chidchai Vanasathidya says although violence has eased slightly, “militants are still killing innocent people and ambushing government officials. The controversial emergency rule, which covers the three southern provinces of Yala, Pattani and Narathiwat, is effective until April 20. Rights groups have denounced the emergency decree, which was first enacted in July without parliamentary approval. Full Story
