Police stream into Hebron to control rioting settlers
Hundreds of police officers, some on horseback, streamed into Hebron on Sunday, after Acting Prime Minister Ehud Olmert pledged to crackdown on settlers rioting over plans to evict Jewish families from Palestinian-owned buildings in the West Bank city. The settlers have clashed with security forces for several days over a court order to evict eight Israeli families who have occupied Palestinian-owned stores in the Hebron marketplace for years.
