The chief US envoy on the North Korean nuclear issue, Christopher Hill, paid a lightning visit to Beijing in a bid to restart stalled six-party talks which he and China said were at a difficult stage. “We are ready to go when the Chinese are ready to go but obviously they have several parties to talk to,” Hill said at Beijing airport before heading off for talks with his Chinese counterpart, deputy foreign minister Wu Dawei.
