Hamas Says It Opposes Election Delay

Hamas insists that the Palestinian parliament election be held, as scheduled, on Jan. 25, a leader of the Islamic militant group said Tuesday. The Hamas leader, Ismail Haniyeh, spoke a day after Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas said the vote should be postponed if Israel bars Palestinians from voting in disputed Jerusalem. However, it is unlikely Abbas will call off the vote without Hamas’ consent, despite growing pressure from his Fatah Party to delay the election. Full Story
