Iraq’s foreign ministry pledged all-out efforts to free six kidnapped Sudanese, including a diplomat, while expressing hope the incident would not mar links between the two countries. “The ministry strongly condemns the kidnapping of six Sudanese nationals. It will do its upmost to win their release,” a statement said Saturday. The six men, five of them working at the Sudanese embassy, were seized in Baghdad as they emerged from a mosque after Friday prayers. “We want to stress that these kidnappings will not affect the brotherly links between our two countries,” the ministry added.
