The Baltimore area is being swamped with counterfeit $100 bills that are cleverly crafted but relatively easy to detect once retailers know what to look for, federal authorities say. The fakes have been turning up in banks along the East Coast, but according to the Baltimore office of the U.S. Secret Service, the number of bills seized in Maryland is greater than in any other state from North Carolina to New York.
