The Sudanese government has for the first time agreed to allow Ugandan troops to pursue members of the rebel Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) in all parts of southern Sudan, Uganda’s army said. In a deal reached last week, Khartoum lifted restrictions on Ugandan military operations against the LRA in southern Sudan as long as they are coordinated with its army and the south’s former rebel movement, now part of a Sudanese unity government, it said.
