50 police hurt in N. Ireland riots

Gunmen opened fire on police and soldiers for a second night running amid a weekend of rioting on the streets of Northern Ireland that left 50 police officers injured. Blast, petrol and paint bombs were hurled at security lines across Belfast and several towns. The Police Service of Northern Ireland told The Associated Press that 18 officers had been injured Sunday night and Monday morning, chiefly by shrapnel from rioters’ homemade grenades.Full Story
