Police authorities are closely watching suspected “safehouses” of the Abu Sayyaf here as investigation continues on the August 10 bombings that injured 30 people. Supt. Gregorio Pimentel, chief of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and the probe on the August 10 bombings, said they are closely watching apartments and boarding houses which could be used by Abu Sayyaf members pretending to be transients. On Tuesday last week, CIDG operatives backed by soldiers raided a compound suspected to be a hideout of Abu Sayyaf members in a thickly populated area along Johnston Street in Barangay San Jose-Gusu, four kilometers from downtown. The team recovered some chemicals and voluminous documents. But the suspects – an engineer and his companions, had fled before the raiding team arrived, he said. Full Story
