PAKISTAN president Pervez Musharraf says a new anti-terror crackdown will see foreign students ordered to leave Islamic religious schools and leaders of banned extremist groups arrested. He said he was in a stronger position to campaign against religious militants than during a limited crackdown in 2002. “I’m in a totally different environment,” Mr Musharraf said yesterday. His government claims to have arrested 600 suspected militants in the past ten days and plans to strictly monitor madrassas, religious schools where extremists are thought to be active. Full Story
