The state Office of Emergency Services will speed up implementation of a new system that will immediately alert individual county officials of tsunamis and other potential disasters. The agency’s decision comes after emergency services officials in San Francisco and Sonoma County complained they were not notified quickly enough when the state tsunami alert was issued after Tuesday’s earthquake off the Northern California coast.
