Insurgents fired mortars at a U.S. military base in northern Iraq Tuesday, wounding an Iraqi civilian, officials said. In Baghdad, politicians met behind closed doors and reported some progress in ending an impasse delaying the country’s new transitional government. On Monday, Sunni Muslim politicians dropped their demand to include former members of Saddam Hussein’s party in Iraq’s new Cabinet in a bid to get more ministries.
