Gen. Richard B. Myers, chairman of the U.S. joint chiefs of staff, said Monday the war against Colombian rebels is being won and that pressure must be maintained until final victory. The assessment by the four-star general came despite a spate of rebel attacks that have killed about 70 Colombian soldiers in the past three months. The most recent attack occurred Wednesday, when members of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC, ambushed a military convoy on a road in an oil-rich region in northeast Colombia, killing 17 soldiers.
