The Arizona Legislature on Monday sent Gov. Janet Napolitano a bill that would authorize private security guards to shoot and kill to protect the Palo Verde nuclear plant. On a 52-3 vote, the House endorsed Senate Bill 1214, which would give security guards the authority to shoot those believed to be terrorists or other intruders who threaten the facility. The measure had already cleared the Senate. Napolitano’s spokeswoman, Jeanine L’Ecuyer, said the governor’s policy is not to discuss legislation until it reaches her desk. Full Story
