A quarter-mile off the beaches of Sandy Point State Park yesterday morning, the Harbor Queen was reporting trouble. Fire was spreading in the engine room and 18 people and a 185-pound mannequin needed help. Members of the county and city Fire Departments, as well as the Natural Resources Police and Coast Guard, responded to a simulated fire on the double-decker Annapolis tour boat about 9 a.m. yesterday as part of a training exercise. Some rush-hour drivers on the Bay Bridge were alarmed to look down and see three speedboats with lights flashing, zipping toward the Harbor Queen. Full Story
