Federal immigration agents arrested three contract workers at Progress Energy’s fossil fuel-generating plant north of Crystal River Thursday night, but the exact charges were unknown, company spokesman Rick Kimble said on Friday. Kimble said U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents made the arrests; however, an ICE spokeswoman declined to provide specifics when contacted late Friday. One of the three men arrested by ICE agents had given a false Social Security number to get a job with a contract company inside the Crystal River nuclear power plant, Kimble said, but Kimble said the man’s actions did not compromise plant security, nor did they violate federal nuclear plant rules.
