Lincoln County’s hazard mitigation plan has been approved by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, members of the Local Emergency Planning Committee learned last week. Committee member Misty Green, who is also the local Emergency Management Agency’s acting director, said the plan has also been approved by the state. This plan is a requirement for every community under the U.S. Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 in order to apply for grants. Green said the year of work that went into the plan has really paid off. “We are the first county to be approved unconditionally by the state,” Green said. Full Story
