Britain will impose penalties worth hundreds of thousands of pounds on Sinn Fein because of a huge bank robbery blamed on its allies in the Irish Republican Army, the government said Tuesday. The Northern Ireland secretary, Paul Murphy, said Sinn Fein’s four elected members of the House of Commons would lose their right to claim expenses, a benefit worth more than £400,000, or $750,000, annually.
