Ten people died, including a pro-India party worker slain by Muslim rebels, in new bloodshed in Indian Kashmir a day ahead of the next round of violence-hit municipal polls, police said. The killings came as the opposition National Conference warned its councillors elected so far in the staggered polls would quit if they did not get protection from rebels who have been waging a violent intimidation campaign to derail the polls. “This would be an injustice not only to the elected members but to the people who voted, despite threats to their lives,” said National Conference president Omar Abdullah on Friday.
