A powerful car bomb, apparently planted by the Basque militant group ETA, exploded in Madrid on Wednesday, slightly wounding 40 people, the Interior Ministry said. Six police officers and 34 civilians were wounded, most suffering cuts from broken glass or ear drum damage caused by the sound of the blast, according to José Antonio Alonso, the interior minister.
