Presidential elections in newly peaceful Liberia will take place Oct. 11, the national electoral body announced. The election will mark the end of a two-year transition, led by Gyude Bryant, after two main rebel groups, West African peace forces and international pressure routed warlord Charles Taylor from power. National Elections Commission Chairman Frances Johnson-Morris told reporters on Monday that voter registration would run from April 25 to May 21.
