A group linked to the Tamil Tigers has given 300 boats to tsunami-hit fishermen in the rebel-controlled areas of northeast Sri Lanka, the organisation said Monday. The Tamil Rehabilitation Organisation (TRO), an affiliate of the rebel Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), said it handed over the boats to encourage fishermen to go back to the sea. “The best way to help these people who are grieving the loss of families and loved ones is to assist them to get back to their work,” the TRO said in a statement posted on the LTTE’s Peace Secretariat’s website.
