A University of Colorado at Boulder professor who became the target of widespread outrage after he called the Sept. 11 victims “little Eichmanns” has resigned as chairman of that school’s ethnic studies department, though he will continue to teach there. The professor, Ward Churchill, is still invited to take part in a discussion Thursday at Hamilton College in Clinton, N.Y., despite widespread protest that has been building since news of his visit became public. “We have a real test of freedom of expression here,” said Hamilton’s president, Joan Hinde Stewart, who has maintained that she finds the comparison “personally repugnant.”Full Story
