Following an intensive and lengthy surveillance operation, France has smashed a cell that was recruiting soldiers to fight a holy war in Iraq, French intelligence and law enforcement officials said Wednesday. In police raids on Monday and again Wednesday, the authorities arrested 11 people, two of them women, and more arrests are expected, the officials said. The timing of the arrests was linked to information that at least two of the French recruits were poised to leave for Iraq, perhaps to carry out suicide operations. Full Story
