Shawn Adolini, Danny Reed and Troy Wagaman began spending time at the Mont Alto Fire Hall when they were teenagers and then became junior members of the department. More than a decade later, the three are still putting in long hours. Adolini is the deputy fire chief, Reed is the assistant fire chief and Wagaman is chief of the ambulance squad. “I’m proud of each and every one of them,” said Charlie Baker, president of both the ambulance squad and fire department. But the hectic world in which we live, family responsibilities, increasingly stringent training requirements and fund-raising responsibilities are making it increasingly difficult to attract volunteers, according to officials with area fire and rescue squads.
