Thailand’s Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra is considering establishing a special task force to provide security in the country’s three southern border provinces of Yala, Narathiwat and Pattani. The prime minister told journalists that he had the idea during his latest visit to the country’s troubled South over the New Year. ”I am thinking about setting up a permanent task force to oversee security in the three southern border provinces. We would send high-quality army men, to be rewarded with excellent welfare, to be stationed there to provide safety and build confidence among residents and businessmen.
