A small Jewish settlement tucked in the southwest corner of the Gaza Strip has become the first in which all the residents have agreed to leave under the Israeli government’s Gaza withdrawal plan, an Israeli official said Sunday. The settlement, Peat Sadeh, consists of just 20 farming families living near the Mediterranean Sea. But the collective decision is significant because Jewish settlers in Gaza, numbering more than 8,000 in 21 settlements, have sought to present a united front against Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s plan to uproot them.Full Story
