Thailand’s Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra has blamed radicals in Indonesia for fomenting unrest in the kingdom’s troubled south where more than 560 people have died this year, according to media reports. The premier has already angered neighbouring Malaysia by charging that some Islamic militants waging the insurgency were trained across the border in Malaysia. Adding Indonesia to the list, Thaksin on Saturday said masterminds of the southern violence were being inspired by extremists there, often while studying at Islamic schools, the Nation newspaper said.
