A tunnel used for smuggling between Egypt and the Gaza Strip has collapsed trapping six Palestinians underground. Palestinian officials received the Israeli army’s permission to send rescue services into a closed military area in Rafah to retrieve them. The tunnel collapsed on Thursday and local residents discovered the problem when they saw a large hole on Friday. Last month Israeli forces rescued three Palestinians who had been trapped in a collapsed tunnel they had been digging. Earlier reports that rescue teams had extracted two people from the tunnel have turned out to be false, Palestinian officials said. Full Story
