Two-day Russian-Japanese consultations on matters concerning the fight against international terrorism has begun in Tokyo on Thursday. The Russian delegation at the consultations is led by Anatoly Safonov, special presidential representative in charge of international cooperation in combating terrorism and transnational organized crime, and the Japanese delegation is headed by ambassador at-Large Akio Shirota. The delegations include representatives of a whole number of governmental agencies, diplomats among them, and staff members of border-guarding, customs and immigration services. The sides are expected to discuss measures aimed at fighting terrorism in both countries and at giving greater scope to exchanges of information and contacts between law enforcement agencies.
