The Philippine police are not taking any chances. Aiming to prevent an attack similar to that on the United States consulate in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, the National Police has moved to fortify Metro Manila, particularly embassies. In a two-page letter of instruction, PNP chief Director General Edgar Aglipay activated “Task Force Manila Shield,” a top-level defense setup aimed at keeping the metropolis safe from terrorist attacks.
