A court has issued arrest warrants for former government officials ”of the highest levels” in Mexico’s southern state of Guerrero in connection with the disappearance of a farmer in 1972. Special prosecutor Ignacio Carrillo declined Wednesday to name the former officials, citing privacy laws and concerns that they might flee. But officials close to the case, who asked not to be identified, confirmed Mexican news reports that they include former Guerrero Gov. Israel Nogueda Otero, who governed from 1971 to 1975, former State Attorney General Francisco Ramón Ramón and Gen. Salvador Rangel Medina. Their whereabouts are unknown. Full Story
